The Power of Matcha
Embracing the Art of Stillness

The Origin of Matcha
A Meditative Practice
in Zen Rituals

In Japanese culture, the pairing of Wagashi and Matcha is more than just a taste experience; it’s a meditative practice rooted in the centuries-old traditions of mindfulness and harmony, history dates back to the 12th century when it was introduced to Japan by Buddhist monks initially used in Zen rituals.
Matcha in Japanese Culture
A Symbol of
Harmoney and Respect
The Japanese tea ceremony, or chanoyu, is a profound cultural practice centered around matcha. It represents the spirit of wabi-sabi—the beauty of imperfection and transience. Sharing a cup of matcha is seen as an act of connection and respect, embodying the principles of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility.

A Joy of Being in a Moment

How to Prepare Your Matcha
A Ritual of Meditative Zen

Immerse yourself in the mindful rituals of the Japanese tea ceremony, transcending the self to experience oneness with all.

1. Warm the Tea Bowl
Pour hot water into the tea bowl to warm it up. Swirl the tea whisk briefly in the water, then discard the water.

2. Add the Matcha
Using the bamboo tea scoop (chashaku),
measure 1.5 heaping scoops of matcha (approximately 2g) and place it into the tea bowl.

3. Pour the Water
Add about 60ml of water, cooled to around 80°C (176°F), to the tea bowl.

4. Whisk the matcha
Hold the tea bowl with your left hand while whisking with your right. Move the bamboo whisk (chasen) briskly in a "M" motion to create a fine froth.

5. Finish with care
Once the matcha is evenly mixed and a smooth, creamy froth has formed, gently draw a circular "O" shape with the whisk and slowly lift it out.

6. Enjoy your matcha
Place the tea bowl in your left hand and support it with your right. Take a moment to appreciate the aroma and savor the taste.
